Comments from Jeff Nelson on 23MAR2012:
Have many good memories of my time in Sri
Lanka. Went to
Google maps and notice that the old Embassy is now the Indian High
Commission. I wonder if the Ghost moved with the Embassy? I know that
we as the watch standers made SSgt Kuhn loose more hair. We took
Detachment of the year while I was there and that is one of the
highlights. Does anyone know where the Marine House is now? The Embassy
is now 2 doors down from the swimming club that we frequented, Almost
lived at. Miss the long runs on the beach, Karate class with Susantha,
Raja (the house boy), Waking the neighborhoods up with the birthday
fireworks. We had some wild times with the gotcha parties, ship visits
(U.S. Germany, Aussi, Brits) (Whooped their butts at darts and pool),
and the presidents son stopping in to the Marine house, TGIFs,
S.H.I.T.s, stuffed crab lunches just to name a few.
Now I still work for the government but its just the state of
Minnesota. Mn DOC. Have a farm in northwest Wisconsin. Raise a few
horses, hunt, fish, work and make hay. Have 4 kids (did have 5), between
Vicki and I, and 1 grand daughter. The youngest daughter is in the
Guard stationed in Afghanistan
