I have a lot of information about three MSG Guards that served in Jordan during the early 1970's. They were Sgts Howard Herrwagon, Thomas Cunningham and Timothy Wells. Due the nature of the situation in the Middle East and elsewhere, these three Marines were the first E-5's in the history of the MSG/State Department program to ever become NCOIC's. Sgt Tim Wells went to Khartoum Sudan, got married as an E-5, organized and participated in the raising of the American Flag for the first time since 1967 and led the detachment during the time when Black September kidnapped the outgoing Charge' and incoming Ambassador. They were both ultimately assassinated by Black September. Sgt Cunningham was assigned to Rabat Morocco and Sgt Herrwagon was assigned to Saana, Yeman. I wonder what Howard and Tom are doing now. Is there anyway you can assist in locating them? If you wish more information on any of us please contact me. All of the above and more can be verified by contacting Colonel John B. Donovan USMC Ret. He was the CO of B Company and billet promoted all of us to NCOIC's. He currently resides in Gettysburg, PA. thanks for the Assist in advance! Semper Fi
